I did it, I finished Dreamstate II. I didn’t quite get it done on Friday, but a bit of work Saturday and Sunday finished it off. I was considering showing off the –The End– that’s at the very end of the page, but then I realized that I’d either be giving away the last few lines of text or it would literally just be a picture of something that I could type. Needless to say, the book is finished, I am pleased with the ending, and now I am going to take a few days off to work on other projects before I delve into the editing.
During my few days off of Dreamstate II, I’m going to spruce up the site a little bit, like I had mentioned earlier, but also really get started on my horror book 2.0. I’ve been mapping some stuff out in my journals and I really like the new direction that I’ve chosen. I might do a few test runs of various voices and styles just to see which one I like the best—but when that’s done I’m going to draw up a pretty serious outline. A lot of my books I write on the fly, but now and again I really like to have a super structured core to work around; I did it for my last 3 Day Novel book and I was able to write very, very quickly and maintain a fairly solid story. Depending on how successful I am with the planning stages I might even start fully writing the book. With a solid outline and the right drive I can often crack 10,000 words in a day. I’ll keep everyone updated on where that ends up going.
In other, entirely unrelated news, I think from now on I might start throwing a few additional hyperlinks and whatnot into the text of my blog posts. Search engines pick them up and rate my site a bit higher on lists if it connects to other places and people bounce from here to there… so, that’s why that will be happening in the future.
My From Ash free day seems to have gone off quite well. Some sales happened and a handful of free units were given away. All in all a good event if I do say so myself.
