So first things first, multiple days of a free book really don’t seem to be worth it. The first day started off normally, but by the end of it barely anyone was paying attention at all. I’m not sure if it’s because the book had been on the chart for a few days and the people that wanted something free already had it, or if it’s because it wasn’t a weekend, but the giveaways dropped off. Single Saturdays and possibly Sundays seem like the absolute best way to give away the maximum number of books. It was a decent experiment, though, because of the way KDP operates now (my free five days were going to expire), and my curiosity was satisfied.
Mostly just been doing the book change enterings. I still don’t really know how to talk about it or make it all that exciting… perhaps next week I’ll find something else book related to talk about (not my books, but in the book world). I guess what’s really slowing me down is that I keep finding spots that I want to make even more changes in—so this run through is really like me entering in a first wave of edits while putting in a second. I’m about halfway done with the book, which is nice, but at the same time, I really would have liked to be a lot further by now. I tell ya’, this book is doing its best to be the slowest, most unforgivingly bulky thing I’ve ever had the pleasure of messing with. On the other hand, I’m chopping out a lot of useless content and shortening down the book a good deal. I think that it should end up just shy of 100,000 words. Yay.
